Students Participate in annual Town-and-Gown Clean-up Day

Towson, MD., October 29, 2013 – On Saturday, October 19, 2013, the Towson University Student Government Association (SGA), in partnership with the Towson Chamber of Commerce and Towson University Student Activities, held the annual “Town-and-Gown” Clean-up. The purpose of the day is to send a message of thanks to the local community of Towson while getting to know the people who live and work in proximity of the campus.

More than 250 students participated in various projects to help beautify uptown Towson. Students were sent to various service sites – including residential homes – to clean up trash, pull weeds, paint over graffiti, and plant landscaping.

“The response from the community was extremely positive,” said Joseph Gros, SGA Director of Community Outreach. “We were pleased to hear that many residents noticed what a valuable asset the students are to their community.”

The SGA thanks the following groups for participating: Active Minds, Actors Anonymous, All Things Fashion, Allure Dance Troupe, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Alpha Phi Omega, Belly Dance, Club Tennis, International Student Association, Kappa Sigma, Kronum Club, Latin American Student Organization, Men’s Club Soccer, Phi Sigma Kappa, Pre-Professional Club, Students-4-Sustainability, Theta Chi Fraternity, and Women’s Rugby Football Club.
